What is a virtual challenge?

Virtual challenges are personal challenges or races that you complete independently at a time and place to suit you. Each challenge is different with what is required and this info is set out in the challenge details; what you need to do and what time period you have to complete it. You submit your results to us using a simple online form, you let us know when you are finished by clicking the CHALLENGE COMPLETE button and we then send out your awards in the post. You can view your results in the results table for each challenge and for some challenges, view your progress on a map.

Our challenges rely on honesty – you send us details of your challenge completion and we trust that it has been completed by you in line with challenge rules. As they used to say at school – if you cheat, the only person you are cheating is yourself!

How do I buy a challenge for another person?

Use the Gift This Product option on the entry page of the challenge you wish to gift, or buy a gift voucher.

Please don’t purchase a challenge for another person without using the Gift this Product or gift voucher option. In order to submit results the challenge but be on the account of the person completing it.

PLEASE NOTE – purchasing a gift voucher or Gift This Product option for a specific challenge does NOT reserve a place in that challenge for the recipient. If they don’t redeem the voucher before the challenge ends or is full they will not be able to enter it – however they will still have the monetary value to spend on any other challenges.

Gift Vouchers and 'Gift this Product'

You can purchase gift vouchers either for a specific challenge or for an amount of your choice. To purchase general gift vouchers please click here. To gift a specific challenge click the ‘Gift this product’ link on any challenge page.

Gift vouchers/Gift this Product vouchers are sent by email to your recipient on the date of your choice. You will also get a PDF version attached to your confirmation email to print and gift in person if you wish. You can select the gift voucher design and add a personalised message. You will get an email to confirm delivery of the email. Please note – you do not receive a physical voucher from us – email/print at home only.

Redeeming a Voucher:

To use the voucher the recipient either clicks the link in their email which will apply the voucher to their account (and if it was for a specific challenge it will also add this to their cart – they can change this item for another if they wish). On the pdf version (if you chose to print at home and gift it) they can scan the QR code which will take them to our site and apply the voucher. Alternatively they can type the gift voucher code into the box at the checkout to deduct the amount from their balance. 

All gift vouchers are valid for 14 months In line with distance selling regulations, you may cancel your order within 14 days however if the voucher have been used in that time the refund will not be given. After this time gift vouchers are non-refundable. Full details can be found in our terms and conditions.

How do I record my results?

There are several options and it can depend on your challenge. You could use a fitness tracker/watch such as a fitbit or Garmin, you can use a fitness app on your phone such as strava, map my ride/run, or even google maps and a watch to time yourself. Some people take screenshots or photos to help them remember the details to enter on the submissions form.

We only ask you to submit the details so it is entirely up to you how you record those details. We don’t need screen shots or photos for most challenges (but please do check the requirements for individual challenges to be sure).

Our challenges rely on honesty – you send us details of your challenge completion and we trust that it has been completed by you in line with challenge rules. As they used to say at school – if you cheat, the only person you are cheating is yourself!

How do I submit my results?
  • Access your submissions via your My Account page, where you will see your current challenges below the dashboard, or via the submissions page.
  • You must be logged into your account to see the submissions form and your submissions log.
  • Complete the submissions boxes with the details required. You can choose what units you enter your distance in but the results table will display in the set units only.
  • Click SUBMIT and your submission will be added to your submission log and the results table will update instantly.
  • IMPORTANT … at the end of your challenge after your final submission, click the ”CHALLENGE COMPLETE’ button. This sends your submissions to admin to be checked.

How do I get my awards?

Complete your challenge and submit all the results to us using the online submissions form before the deadline. 

Click the Challenge Complete button to tell us you are finished and to send them to us to be checked. We will email when we dispatch your awards.

If you completed the challenge successfully in the challenge time-frame and submitted your results before the deadline, we will send your awards to you in the post to the address registered in your account within 14 days of completion. Awards come in an envelope that will fit through a standard letterbox.

Delivery Outside of the UK

All awards are sent from the UK. If you live outside the UK you may be charged local taxes or duty on parcels from outside of your country which you are responsible for. We will not reimburse any import charges.

We sell our challenges as a digital service product however the awards we send if you complete the challenge are now subject to additional local fees in the EU, despite not being a ‘product purchase’. So we have options on challenges for those living outside the UK:

You can choose the ‘No Coin’ option – you get to participate in the challenge and we send the completion card with the swim badge attached as a decoration if you complete the challenge (this badge can be removed and used). You do not receive the challenge coin award with this option. This means that there should be no local fees to pay (not guaranteed). 

Or you can chose the ‘Full Awards’ option to be sent the coin plus card and swim badge if you complete the challenge, but you may be required to pay local fees (these vary). There is also an extra charge for the Full Awards option to cover additional postage fees. If you want to be sent the coin award you must select this option on the challenge page before adding to cart as the default will be the Digital Only if no option is selected.

We cannot sell physical products such as our frames or hats outside the UK.

How do I view the Results of the challenges?

You can view your submissions and the results table on the submissions page. Access this either via our submissions page or your account. 

What if I don't complete it or miss a deadline?

If you fail to complete your challenge or miss a deadline for submission then your will not receive your awards or be included in the results for the challenge. Email reminders will be sent to you to help you remember (unless you have unsubscribed).

Challenges are non-refundable or transferable to another person or another challenge. 

Refunds and transfers

Challenges cannot be refunded or transferred to another runner or challenge. 

In line with distance selling regulations, you may cancel your challenge order within 14 days however if any awards have been sent to you in that time they must be returned to us at your expense. Full details can be found in our terms and conditions.
