VIRTUAL Swim 6 Challenge
VIRTUAL Swim 6
The virtual version of the in-person Swim 6 event.
Swimming for this challenge can be completed indoors or outdoors in a pool or open water. There are no restrictions on what you can wear or on accessories - wetsuits are permitted. Team members can swim in the same or in different locations.
Swim as a solo swimmer. You must select a single six hour period on one day between 1st July and 31st August 2021 and swim as much as you can in those 6 hours..
All swimmers must swim a minimum of 500m over the 6 hours and they can be in the water as much or as little as they like throughout the 6 hour period.
For successful completion of this Virtual Swim 6 challenge you will receive a commemorative challenge coin, a woven swim badge and postcard sized certificate, which will be sent to you by post (postage is free within the UK). All awards will be sent to the address on your account within 14 days of your final submission. Awards are not guaranteed - they are sent only on successful completion of the challenge distance and submission of your results by the deadline.
Recording your results
Record your swim date, distance and swim time in hh:mm:ss. You can use a fitness watch or tracker such as a Garmin or on a fitness app to measure the distance/time of your swim. You may also record your swim details manually; at a swim venue they will likely provide you with information such as course/lane distance or you can estimate it using google maps for outdoor venues. These challenges rely on honesty and we expect all entrants to be honest with their own results.
If you swim at a NOWCA venue such as Race Hub in official sessions then your swim data including the distance, time, temperature of your swim are recorded on your NOWCA profile after each swim. You can retrieve this data by logging in to your personal swim page where a record of your swims can be found. We suggest that you check that your data has been recorded properly after each swim as technical or human errors cannot be corrected.
Submissions and Results
You must submit your final results by the 5th September 2021. You will need to use our Virtual Swim 6 online submissions form (you will only see the submission options if you are logged into your account and have purchased the challenge).
We will need the date of your swims, the distance swam and how long you swam for. The form can be found both on the submissions page, your My Account page and will be sent to you via email when you sign up and in a reminder email. The results table will be on the Virtual Swim 6 Challenge page. The results position for the challenge is determined by distance.
You are likely to complete more than one swim session over the 6 hour event period you choose. You can submit each swim you do separately, or submit the total for the 6 hours. You can submit during your chosen challenge period - you will see the results update live for your team and see a record of all your submissions. If you prefer you can submit after your challenge.
If you don't complete the minimum distance and submit your results by the deadline, you will not receive your awards or appear in the final results table.
Our challenges are honesty based and require you to accurately and honestly record and submit your own results.
All swimming for this Virtual Swim 6 Challenge must be completed between 1st July and 31st August 2021 (inclusive) in a single 6 hour period and can include as many swims as you like over the 6 hours. All results must be submitted online by 5th September - results submitted after this date will not be included in the results table and the awards will not be sent.
